SW-2/5 is a stand-alone wind power plant designed to provide electric power to a variety of consumers without access to the grid. This wind turbine is the only one in Russia which has a certification № РОСС RU.МХ07.Н0002. It is designed to be used for single-family residences, geological expeditions, hunters’ houses, camps, etc.. It may be supplied with specialized desalination and water purification modules fit to power change at wind speed change, a water pump, a solar battery and a diesel generator.

SW-2/5 COMPONENTS AND OPERATING DESCRIPTION

A SW-2/5 unit consists of:
- Rotor (propeller) (three blades, a hub with an RPM regulator);
- Head with a band wheel shaft, with a permanent magnet slow-speed generator;
- Support-rotating unit with a current collector;
- Yaw damper;
- Three sections tower with bracings;
- Foundation;
Electrical equipment part of the SW2/5 consists of:
- Regulated charging unit;
- Converter with the power output up to 5 kW;
- Acid storage battery with the voltage output of 48V with the capacity of 200….2000 Ah or 240V with the capacity 50….500 Ah.

Operating description
Rotor converts kinetic energy of the wind flow into mechanical energy of the band wheel shaft rotation. This energy is converted by the synchronous magneto-electric generator into electricity energy of the alternating current. Alternating current is converted with the help of “intellectual” charging unit into constant current for storage batteries charging. Constant current with the help of converter is converted into single phase alternating current 220V, 50 Hz. The support-rotating unit with the yaw damper is designed to direct the rotor towards the wind and at the same time to exclude undesired head oscillations in relation to its pivot shaft. The tower is designed to transfer the load that the rotor and the head sustain to the foundation. The tower construction is flexible to allow the tower’s own vibration frequency to be lower than the vibration frequency of the rotor. This feature reduces the weight of the tower and avoids the use of hoisting devices in the process of the wind turbine installation.

Types of SW-2/5
There are two types of SW-2/5: - Basic version; - Tropical version.
The tropical version differs from the basic version by its protective coating and additional technical characteristics that allow SW-2/5 to operate at high temperatures, humidity and sea fog.
Combination of the wind turbine with a desalination unit. SW-2/5 together with the water desalinating plant is a stand-alone drinking water source. It is designed to desalinize seawater or other highly mineralized water up to the drinking water standards by electro-dialysis method application. The distinctive feature of the complex is in the unique structural and system characteristics that allow the desalination unit to be powered by the direct energy supply from the wind power generator unit. The above described power generator – water desalination unit’s design allows for the wind turbine to serve as a power generation unit supplying electricity to a household after the desalination unit has produced a sufficient volume of the drinking water. 1.2.6. When delivering complex with solar batteries or/and diesel generator individual project is elaborated, it takes into consideration particular features of the power consumer on the basis of typical project.

Charger, suction hose and electrical cable connecting the wind turbine - desalinating plant unit and the power generating unit location are not included into the delivery set. These parts are purchased separately. Following documentation is included into the delivery set: Registration certificate; Operating manual; Drawings for the foundation works. The foundation drawings and mounting parts may be delivered in advance. FOUNDATION The foundation is ferroconcrete and consists of 5 pits poured with concrete. Their approximate dimensions are: Depth – deeper than the frost penetration layer specific to that particular area, but not less than 120 cm; Pit size - 40 cm x 40 cm; Total size of the SW-2/5 installation ground is 6x6 m. Required quantity of concrete is approximately 1.5 m?. Approximate excavation works – 1.5 m?. The foundation mounting parts are included in the delivery set. Additional foundation technologies are offered in case of rocky grounds where wind power generating units are to be installed.
INSTALLATION
There are two installation options for the SW-2/5 turbine: The tower erection is done by a lifting unit. (The lifting unit is not included into the delivery set). The tower erection is done by a crane with the lifting capacity of 0.5 ton and with the shaft length of 14 meters.
